Actually, I am lying. Natalie Joos from Tales of Endearment has been my girl crush for months now. But since I 'm trying to be a better blogger from time to time (or like today, as I am waiting for my clay model to dry up so I can use it to form a cast and wood model- yup final year at architecture studies..)- I will reveal my crush and share this inspiring talent to those who haven't added her blog to their favorites yet.
Not only does she take great pictures, but she also meets really cool people in really cool places and has a great eye for their own personal style and personalities. When she is photographed herself (always by great photographers too) she has the most effortless yet well put together stylish vibe going on. I really admire how she sees the unique individuality in people's apartments, cloths and habits- and that all comes across in her fun and beautiful blog. Oh. She is also the coolest girl around with a wardrobe I'd borrow in a heartbeat.

Everything about these images (that were almost randomly chosen since her blog is a never ending inspiration source) just screams (in a fun gentle way) passion, love, individuality.

Well, I went to Migdalor building today (Tel Aviv). To be precise, I went to the 10th floor, to the United States-Israel Education foundation, in order to find some solid information about scholarships.
Got a huge pile of books and folders to go through, and so I did.

This was the view from the bathroom window there- unbelievable view for a public toilet, don't you think?
A while back, I got requests for posting outfit posts and I wasn't very obedient now was I? So here you go, summer outfit at the United States-Israel Education foundation's bathroom.

Rainy day caught me by surprise. Due to that, I came back home from a physics class at uni and cooked lunch (though I wasn't that hungry, just eager to make this coconut-peanuts-curry-chicken-noodles recipe I improvised on with lots of spinach, coriander, fresh chili etc.) I have a big exam to study to OH YES THAT TOO, that might be the reason for staying home. But, well... I'm juggling between that and this free-flow-web-wandering. Does that make any sense outside of my head? I often do that. Of course, YES Google's amazing blablabla, but you've gotta choose some sorta of path, see? So, right now (literally) I'm into fashion photography- especially those "hard to find" photos, editorials and campaigns, allegedly (I found them).
And also a bit of a trip down memory lane, music-wise. YOU KNOW when you listen to a tune and it kinda takes you somewhere else in your life? that's it.
OH AND also I am very much into Tavi, which ain't new, but I tend to drift in and out of my Tavi pseudo-addiction. I really like this girl. She met Andre Leon Talley, and her room is a big mess of Prada and Proenza Schouler gifts , but I like her more than I am jealous of her. That is just how great I am sometimes.

So I better share some of my web-flotation findings, if I am claiming to be that great, right? I am really into this hazy light effect apparently. I mean, usually I'm into the colors and art and stuff (among my favorite editorials must be Daria in Mario Testino's Masterpiece Theater, or Elise Crombez in Tim Walker's Kiss Me Quick), but this light seems to attract my attention. Whether romantic or innovative, it works for me today I guess.

Well what can I say-it's the end of the semester; Yes- many many sleepless nights in order to complete my project. Mission accomplished (was real fun BTW) getting closer and closer to the end of my degree... ALSO been to Naples with my studio classmates, sea front workshop, sightseeing, pizza-eating, partying, Chloe-bag-shopping too. And back to some exams and the indecisive Tel aviv weather. RAINBOWS 3 TIMES A DAY AT LEAST!

I know fashion week(s) might require some attention, YES I loved the colors in Jil Sander, and I also have an urgent crave for Cacharel's neon looks (and great shades). Celine and Marni are also among my favorites, and let us not forget about the much admired Loewe collection.
BUT... I just discovered the latest collection by New york based label TBA, and, well... That's exactly what's missing in my wardrobe (that and a new necklace by Dario's, but I'm willing to be patient).

I can't resist it for the simple reason that this is how I feel like dressing up lately... BOLD CLEAN SMART REPETITIVE. Some days I feel boring. But when it's well done, with the right amount of shape vs. crisp (d'you know what I mean?...)- it is classic, timeless and modern- all at once.

And as for Stella McCartney, which I always admire and personally love wearing-

Somewhere+The Nutcracker

She's incredibly beautiful, she's twelve, and she's starring in two upcoming films I'm rather excited about.
Elle Fanning, plays Cleo in Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere" and Marie (I've always preferred her original Tchaikovsky Russian name- Clara) in "The Nutcracker (3D)".
I love how Coppola makes these smart, elegant and educated frames (notice all the Ed Ruscha references). And the fact she repeats certain frames or situations in her films so far (think "Lost in translation" Murray+Johansson scenes for instance and then watch the trailer for "Somewhere").
On the other hand, there's "The Nutcracker".
This was always my favorite ballet; as a child, a dancer and a pseudo-grown up. I had a video (which was as far as I recall very low production animation, but wonderful nonetheless), I went to The British Ballet adaptation (the legendary Darcey Bussell was Clara) and I play the record at home (I've got two orchestral versions, both are very good). I truly love the music and Libretto written by Tchaicovsky, based on E.T.A Hoffmann's story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King".
I remember finding it so dark and beautiful when I was little, and I am also so glad it wasn't adapted by Disney at some point (was it?) and become somehow silly, childish and popular as well. It was all mine.
I hope this 3D version is good; Did they leave Fritz's character as dark as I remember it? Oh please please please make it good.

I don't mind being a used up cliche; There are certain things I keep developing a longing sentiment for, while I grow up. The joy of staying up till the morning comes for instance, I am so terribly serious about studying, reading, working, working out early in the morning, I am less and less excited about arriving home after my news paper.

I feel not as original as I did a while ago. At 18 I wrote till my hand would shiver, at 20 danced inside the metro in Paris with a smile and closed eyes, 22 was my deep diving into books year- I read everything I could put my hands (and eyes) on. Growing up ain't easy for anyone, is it? Excitement bar is higher, self criticism level is aswell.

Somehow, I can't handle the same monstrous amount of alcohol I could, I think more and more about my professional future and I try to eat more greens.

Yet I still have the most childish habits, perhaps a growing amount of them, keeping me busy. Such as placing books or articles underneath or beside my pillow at night, brushing my teeth standing on one leg only, making lists, many lists, of words, phrases and characters from books and films, cuting out of the paper every article that has to do with dolphins, sharks or whales, singing the same french song while watering my plants and a few other habits I'll keep to myself.

Last night I slept on an interview with the wonderful Phoebe Philo, and I actually had a very bad dream I'd rather forget. But today I'm listening to this while solving equations. BETTER.

PS Hannah MacGibbon I love you with all my heart. Well at least your creative contribution to the world in general and my own personal dreams in particular.

Benny's video. didn't finish watching it yet. It's my yom kippur left over film and I think I have been recently renting more disturbing films than I have in a while. YES THAT MEANS A LOT MY WHOLE SOUL IS REVEALED. Tired, trying to scribble something, the kitchen have been producing boiling sounds for two minutes now. Cause I use a ketlle that hasn't got a plug.
Now weird annoying noises, where on earth are they coming from? I heard a couple of neighbours earlier at the darker side of the building's yard, something to do with the sewer and they were being much too loud for the evening time. But I hardly believe that's it. Actually, to be honest my dear imaginary friend (not Gene Kelly he's for real), I think it sounds like little pieces of styrofoam being smashed and pushed around. Or could be also perhaps combined with Small chatty creatures crashing on my window panes getting it dirty, while a plastic bag is being dragged around when no one's watching.
DREAMING CRASHED DOWN. And I also figured it out.
Pointless, NOW THAT ALSO MEANS A LOT.

If only the weekend was longer...

All I'd do is go to the beach and listen to music LOUDLY -since I'm half deaf I think (and also read my book of the week, watch a film or too, meet up with friends, party, drink, laugh- not necessarily in that order).
So today I settled with reading at the beach and listening to great stuff I found out about from the radio at work.... so... I guess... maybe work is good after all?
I actually really love my job, but this was one rough week. I'll stop whining and go back to reading and playing around with my cat.
OH. I HAVE A QUESTION PLEASE- anyone working in an office or any other physically passive job? I need advice for my sore back and hyperactive character, working in front of a computer or paper is killing my body. HELP. (and I am physically active outside of work. I think.)

YES. I'm neglecting. I KNOW. I can blame it all on my new full time job (which I haven't really said much about, but it's good, REALLY GOOD), or the heat, MAN IS IT HOT OR WHAT, or god knows what.
I'M SORRY. I have these good witty posts(at least they seem good in that head of mine) running up and down my head while I'm cycling the streets and avoiding mad taxi drivers. But as soon as I get home, it's a quick shower and either I'm off again for more adventures, or into bed/chair/the cool floor with a book. Not concentrated at all, actually- I give it all to work, and all is left for later is PLAY. so... SORRY AGAIN.

Well, since it's either solving simply horrible equations for my exam tomorrow, or confronting this VERY SERIOUS matter, also known as MY HAIR, I'll go for number two: The hair thing. I get asked repeatedly about my hair since the age of 18 I think. It's not that my hair is such a phenomena (though I do have good hair days quite often lately), it's just that I have bangs. I wish I could find that Vogue Paris issue that made me go get a pair of scissors and cut my own bangs. I was 17, I remember going through the magazine just before heading to school to do a history exam, I was (and still am) very impulsive. I guess it was a good call, cause I haven't changed my haircut much since. Well, I did go blond... but never gave up my eyes curtains... THE BANGS. I could try to explain why I love this hairdo as much as I do, I mean... Jane Birkin during the 60's, and now her daughter, Lou Doillon... Then there's Irina Lazareanu circa 2006... and Eva Herzigova's latest haircut aswell..OH and those fantastic Mulberry ads from 2008, starring Marina Linchuk and Hanne Gaby Odiele shot by The legendary Steven Meisel. I can actually go on, cause there's also Élodie Bouchez in one of my all times favorite, Roman Coppola's CQ, and Freja Beha looking notoriously skinny in Chanel. Angela Lindvall had bangs (remember those Fendi ads?), so did my all time favorite model- Jessica Miller... Dewi Driegen never gave them up, and Kate Moss had them for a while too (and looked at her best, if you ask me). Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe, I can go on and on. Yes, I'm a sucker for fashion, and Yes, I kinda like hiding behind my hair. SO WHAT? I mean, I do like playing with the idea of changing the way I look every once in a while, but this has just become a part of who I am in a way. I know, SILLY. ah well. I do get constantly compared to Sienna Miller (especially in Alfie), not that I can complain. Actually, she just got new bangs recently and wears them well. Gucci seem to always have at least one model wearing bangs in their ads, therefor I was also reminded of that for a while (YES I AM A GUCCI MODEL. RIGHT). In a way, bangs have that free spirit vibe of the 60's, yet it's modern and chic too. Leaving me with the simple yet precise ten words at the hairdresser: "I need them a bit shorter. I can't quite see."

I was breathless with love, fascination, astonishment, and endless envy of those divine dancers. I'd give anything in a sec to do what they're doing for a living.

Rush, get tickets and go see this , even if you're not a dance fanatic as moi.
The energy is amazing, and so is the music (by Ori Lichtik and Guy Bachar).
The choreography is just impossible to put in words.

I'll be going to see it again soon, for sure.

Springtime has finally arrived... Riding my bicycle in the sun, sitting outside Tel-aviv museum in the sun, reading a book in the sun, daydreaming in the ... well you get the point.

I'm wearing a Topshop playsuit and ballerinas from Topshop as well, H&m jacket, a Chanel bag and my new Casio futuristic watch (I love futuristic stuff from the 80's. future is here man!).
I spent my morning at Tel-aviv museum, my most favorite place in the world for some quite time. I guess it's one of the single places in which I can feel my mind really clearing out. I love it.

Happy independence day to all you Israelis, hope you don't eat too many stakes, and as my parents called earlier to say "not too much vodka dear".
I myself plan on going out with some friends and let the sweet-dirty atmosphere of these kind of nights in the city take over.
Turn the volume up please, all you too-cool-for-school-djs!

Yep, I'm back in Tel-aviv. Back in the craziness also known as the life of an architecture student. I've been quite persistently plead by two good friends of mine, all the way from Paris and NY (hi girls!) to post more outfit posts and put more efforts in my blog. I'm thinking of doing so... but in the meanwhile I'm actually channeling my energy to other things right now; Painting again (woohoo) and mostly struggling with technology in order to get this semester's project all sorted out.

I hope it'll get sunnier soon, cause I'm in urgent need of some serotonin.

I'm very much into strange old jewelery at the moment. I guess I have always loved these old shiny things, but I never tended to cling to specific items (other than my grandparents' watches and a little gold bracelet made of tiny golden hearts- shamelessly sentimental probably).
Anyhow, Lately I find these items more precious and fun than ever, so full of character.
I recently received the coolest ring ever, shaped like a fox wrapped around my finger. I love it, it so Mr. Fox, isn't it?...
And the bracelet I've got on in the photo, is actually made out of old watches parts, in silver, gold and black. I got it at Ruby star's new store in Jaffa (great spot, they had The knife's new album playing, I was thrilled) and I felt so spoiled and self-indulgent doing so. But it was worth every dime since I really like it and the fantasies of watch makers and owners it allows me to portray in my little mind.

I'm awfully busy lately, but for good reasons I must admit.
I wish I had more time to read, write or make things (draw? sew? day dream?)... but the things I fill my time with aren't half bad at all, so how can I complain?

So awfully sorry guys, I kinda forgot all about this. Guess I was busy doing all so many things.This made my heart break a little a couple of days ago.

But I also did some pretty awesome things too
like learn how to model in Rhino3d (so what if I'm geeky), get 4 (!!) new pairs of shoes- such as the sequined ballerinas I'm wearing right now (a girl's gotta get some sparkle on her paws), watch Wes Anderson's new film once again this time in a friend's bar, party till the sunrise, make melon caviar (molecular gastronomy is the shit) in the middle of the night with my favorite boy, go to the beach instead of economy class, spend an entire night working on a project for uni, listen to Liz Diller's lecture, get drunk over dinner on a hot evening then cycle back home to write till I faint, learn some Latin.
Oh. get featured in the paper again. And by the way, dear "Haaretz" newspaper readers: I'm 23, not 24. god

And since I'm that old, I'm also beat. off to bed. Oil painting 8am.

Last night I went to see Wes Anderson's new and quite anticipated movie "Fantastic Mr. Fox".
I must begin by confessing my love to Anderson's work. His whole perception of film-making is quite auteur-like; He's so involved in each and every aspect of his movies, and it's pretty visible to the viewer, adequate or not. As if, in a relatively short period of time, he has managed to create a both visual and thematic language that is exclusively his.
The movie "Fantastic Mr. Fox"(an adaptation of Roald Dahl's book by the same title) is in a way not that different than Anderson's earlier films. Even though it's defined as a children's movie, I didn't find it occupied with subjects that are new to Anderson's body of work. Again, we have a main character (Mr. Fox, voiced by George Clooney) that is torn between its individualistic desires (quirky and illogical as they might be) and it's acknowledge of the way things apparently should be. And again, an inner family dynamic, portrayed in a poignant and magnificent way. And that's one of the things I love most about Anderson's films- He manages to maneuver his way through complicated issues, with dry humor and little sharp insights, straight into the heart.
In "The Royal Tenenbaums" it was (mainly) Margot, Chas and Richie, that kept struggling with the conflicts provoked by the wide gap between their inner and outer worlds. That movie, in my opinion, epitomized Anderson's wonderful ability to create a cinematic narrative that is both absurd and odd, yet so realistic and sensitive, so cohesive.
"The life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" also evolved around a bizzare family relationship, while illustrating Steve Zissou and his team’s journeys in search of the jaguar shark ("-Esteban was eaten! -Is he dead?- Esteban was eaten! Check the scanning monitor before it dives too deep! -He was bitten? -Eaten! -He was swallowed whole? -No! Chewed!")

This time, it's Mr. Fox, whom after promising his wife (voiced by Meryl Streep) to never go chicken stealing again, finds himself eager to release his inner wild animal, and break the promise. Their son Ash (Jason Schwartzman) is not going through the easiest time either, having his cousin over for a long visit- who turns out to be everything Ash isn't, and hopes to be.

And so it begins...

The film was made using stop-motion animation. And of course, it contains Anderson's wicked and wonderful visual and audio signatures all along; the soundtrack, the look, the vibe, the humor, the humaneness.

It’s pretty hard to make a bouquet of flowers look high fashion and provocative, but somehow Maria Carla Boscono pulls it off. The Wild Orchid, photographed by Camilla Akrans for Vogue Nippon, is the epitome of decadence; From the rich velvet and silk fabrics to the Italian palazzo setting. The fashion story is interesting in its portrayal of the different sides of the female, from the suggestive, almost exposing, shots of Boscono sat in a gold foil mini dress with her legs spread and posed on a couch barely covered by draped silk and a large necklace, to the prim scene where the model is sat in a short, but demure, pink one-shoulder dress. This image in particular stole my heart (What is it with my attraction for images containing well dressed girls, sitting alone on pretty furniture?...).

I am pretty sure this isn't going to be a grand cinematic experience. Yet, Serge Gainsbourg is my all time favorite musician, without a doubt. And yes, I am a completely moronic sucker when it comes to french sixties heroines, such as Jane Birkin and her killer charms (beautiful Lucy Gordon played her role in the film, shortly before committing suicide in her Paris apartment).
Here's the trailer, doesn't seem like the sharpest creation made on film, but the soundtrack is divine, for sure, and Laetitia Casta looks remarkably Bardot-like.

Marina Abramovic’s latest work 8 Lessons on Emptiness with a Happy End is being presented these days at The center for contemporary art in Tel aviv (CCA). The work arose from the artist’s stay in Laos. There she was exposed to a recreation of war represented by children; a diminutive military armed with toy guns. Questioning the role of media on violence in society, the project poses Laotian children, perhaps iconic symbols of innocence, dressed as soldiers in various warlike scenarios, all against the backdrop of a region known for spirituality, but also conflict.
-Should this be understood as a counterpoint to the countless atrocities represented everywhere?

Together with the installation, Abramovic made a series of photographs entitled Family, where she posed, mother-like, with a clan of uniformed local children who held plastic guns. In The Family XI, Abramovic evokes a guerrilla goddess by brandishing several weapons in her folded arms; in The Family IX, two blank-faced teenage girls stand on an oversized chair holding rifles.

The exhibition’s title piece - a video installation on five screens - intercuts Abramovic’s faux war scenes with serene Laotian landscapes. She composes and introduces a stylized conflict: negotiations, battle, carrying the captive, execution, etc.
Powerful in its imagery, the complex leaves viewers with a feeling of emptiness at the futility of war.

8 Lessons on Emptiness with a Happy End focuses on the violence in contemporary media society, and our non - receptivity in front of these images. By conjuring a kind of particular emptiness, close to what a dream may involve as reality in human memory, and by recognition of this by the viewer, her performance leads to an experience of a gradual higher state of being.

8 LESSONS ON EMPTINESS WITH A HAPPY END is being presented at the CCA and closes january 28th.

I haven't been sleeping in the past few days, nearly at all. I am giving my heart to a project at university, my semester final project. And so, between studying and working, that's almost all I have been up to, no sleep for me.
Obviously, I'm beat tired, and a small and unwanted test tomorrow is keeping me up tonight as well... I want to sleep. I never sleep.

Anyhow, This post is an outfit post, which hasn't happened in ages, it seems. I am here to prove a certain someone, I do wear pants, and not only skirts! See?...

I'm wearing this gorgeous neck-piece, by Aluma. I love it, it makes me feel like I'm carrying someone else's memories on my shoulders, not sure why- maybe because it feels a bit haunted with pasts.

I'm wishing to dream tonight of Frédéric Chopin, Charles Aznavour, Weimaraner dogs, stop motion clouds, music boxes, soft sweaters (I prefer stolen ones) and Cortazar short stories.
But in order to dream, one must sleep. I think.

And I gotta get back to linguistics studying (yes, I still study architecture).

Julian Casablancas' solo album is out, and guess who's got it?
At first I was suspicious, but I must admit it's growing on me.
This guitar, in a swinging gait, cascading and effortlessly stimulating my brain, my heart. There's something oriental yet progressive about it; Eagerly moves forward, yet so subtle and elegant. I think I like it. Oh yes, I like it.
